The first witness is expected to take the stand in the sexual violence trial of 64-year-old Tony Humby on Wednesday morning.

Humby stands accused of 72 charges related to the alleged abuse and exploitation of vulnerable youths, mostly centred around his trailer near the airport in St. John's.

The trial has been a long time coming, and is expected to extend well into next year with a staggered schedule of short stretches.
