The 89th Academy Awards take place this Sunday in Los Angeles and Arrival has 8 nominations. The sci-fi thriller directed by Quebec native Denis Villeneuve also stars St. John's actor Mark O'Brien (pictured above). Arrival is nominated for the following Oscars:
- Best Picture
- Best Director (Denis Villeneuve)
- Best Cinematography
- Best Film Editing
- Best Sound Editing
- Best Sound Mixing
- Best Production Design
- Best Writing Adapted Screenplay
O'Brien plays a small but important role in the film which also stars Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
